Back to Basics - The Idea behind Service Learning

Team Picolove attended the Service Learning Workshop over two days.

And it was a time where the team visited the fundamentals of service learning. It was also an opportunity for the team to discover more about the framework of a Youth Expedition Project.

The day started tamely enough - with a series of lectures.

However, as always the excellent Picolove members took every opportunity to learn and absorb new pieces of information.

After lunch, the team went through a journey to Paradi(s)e Island, where half the team met with a disaster on the way to Paradise.. and the rest of the team had to save them!

The elderly, the blind and the crippled had to navigate their way across an obstacle course to safety!

The rest of the team really had to communicate and utilise their limited resources (of tiles) wisely.

After some time, all the victims were saved, and the team took a victory pose at the end!

The day finally ended when the team had to write (or draw??) their service objection and learning objectives for the OCIP journey.

Two very different drawings were created, but the same points surfaced.

Team Picolove wanted to export the collective efforts of the team to Laos, and make an impact on the Laotians. And this would be done through the series of activities that the team has been planning for thus far.
